The Spice Island
Our mission is to guide visitors deep into the heart of what makes this island famously known as “The Spice Island.”
The tour unfolds with a scenic drive through lush plantations and vibrant rural landscapes, where the air is filled with the fragrances of tropical bounty. Along the way, you’ll sample a variety of fresh fruits—refreshing green coconut, bold durian, sweet jackfruit, pineapple, banana, love apple, lychee, and tangy soursop.
Zanzibar’s legendary spice heritage comes alive through hands-on encounters with aromatic treasures like cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, turmeric, vanilla, black pepper, and nutmeg—each one telling its own story of the island’s rich cultural and culinary legacy.
Jozani Forest
Jozani Forest, situated about 35 km southeast of Zanzibar Town, is the largest surviving indigenous forest on Unguja Island, covering approximately 1,000 hectares. Once a habitat for elusive leopards and antelopes, it now stands as a vibrant sanctuary for rare wildlife and flourishing vegetation.
This forest is especially famous for its playful Blue Sykes monkeys and the rare Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys—an endangered species found only on the island. Known for their curious and gentle nature, the Red Colobus monkeys often allow visitors to observe them up close, guided by experienced forest rangers.
Beyond its charismatic primates, Jozani is a mosaic of ecosystems, featuring tidal mangrove swamps, freshwater-fed forests, salt-tolerant grasslands, and dense coastal bushland—all contributing to its status as one of Zanzibar’s most ecologically rich and biologically diverse areas.
